Although facelift is perceived as a medical procedure performed due to aesthetic concerns, it sometimes appears as a medical necessity. We cannot mention that facelift operations, which are commonly performed with aesthetic concerns, are now preferred only by women. Facelift procedures, which are also very popular among men of our age, are mostly preferred to recover skin loosening and sagging after a certain age.
It is also not right to talk about an age limitation for facelift procedures because it is sufficient for the person to feel her/his own face aged and to determine that the face has lost its dynamism as a result of the examination. Patients lose serious weight after obesity surgery, which has become very popular today, and the sagging of the skin is very disturbing for individuals who have gained a weak and fit appearance. These patients also prefer facelift techniques.
A facelift with surgery is also possible, except for facelift bands and facelift procedures, which are non-surgical and injected. If the person applies due to obligation and / or aesthetic dissatisfaction, and if deformations in the form of loosening and sagging are detected in the skin as a result of the examination performed by the specialist physician, it is not very difficult to eliminate these problems with facelift surgery. With the developing technology, both the cost of such operations has decreased and the operation and postoperative period have accelerated, increasing the preferences in this direction. When planning the surgery, firstly, the youth photographs of the patient are examined and it is determined how the aging takes place, where and in what direction the deformation occurs.
There is a common belief that only the skin is stretched with facelift surgery. However, this is not true. With a correct and successful surgery, not only the face, but also all skin layers are shaped in three dimensions. With the incision made in the skin, the connective tissues under the skin, mimic muscles and downward relaxed tissues are intervened. By touching these deep tissues under the skin, loosened and sagging elements are moved to where they should be on a normal face and existing disorders are eliminated. One of the main questions that come to mind regarding facelift surgeries is whether there will be scars after surgery. Since facelift surgery is performed with small incisions of 1 to 2 millimeters and remaining in the hair in endoscopic methods, there is no trace appearance. In classical methods, since these incisions are in front and behind the ear and the natural lines of the face are placed between them, they become invisible over time.
Until a while ago, there were concerns that the face would become very swollen, bruised, and the person would not be able to go into society for a long time after facelift surgery. However, today there is no need to bear these worries. Because the technology developed in the field of plastic surgery and endoscopic surgical methods, the damage to the tissues during the surgery has been minimized, parallel to this, the recovery time of the patients has significantly accelerated. While the postoperative hospital stay is usually one or two days;
At the end of this period, the patient discharged can return directly to his daily life. If there is bruising or edema on the face, it is possible to talk about the onset of swelling and the disappearance of edema within 48 to 72 hours. After 7 to 10 days, the patient will be able to return to work. A waiting period of 1.5-2 months is required for the surgery to be fully achieved and the face to regain its natural state. Another concern regarding the postoperative period is that the new state of the face will be very different from the old one. "Will I be able to be recognized by those around me?
Will I be distinguished from my photos on documents such as driver's license, identity card?" such concerns are extremely unnecessary. Because the bone structure, which is the basis of facial expression, cannot be intervened with the procedure. A younger, more vivid appearance is achieved with only the intervention made to the skin.
It is extremely possible to achieve a rejuvenation result of 5 to 10 years on the patient's face with a facelift surgery performed with a correct planning. The permanence of the effects of such surgeries to be performed on competent hands is definitely longer than the face lift band and other methods. Although it is possible to pronounce this duration of permanence as 10 years under normal conditions, it is useful to underline that the main determinant of the duration is the living conditions of the person.
Factors such as excessive smoking and alcohol consumption, a stressful lifestyle, insomnia, avoidance of sports and exercise, inadequate and problematic eating and drinking habits, and perhaps most important of all, not taking precautions against sun damage can shorten the 10-year permanence period. People who have adopted a calm lifestyle, have limited or completely eliminated alcohol and cigarette consumption, have the necessary sleep habits for adults, are fed regularly and adequately, regularly perform the minimum exercises that their body needs, and protect themselves against sun damage, this permanence period may be prolonged.
Fulfilling the personal care requirements without saying "I had surgery once, I don't need to do anything anymore" and by means of laser, filling, botox and similar little touches under the control of the physician; It is up to the individuals to keep the satisfactory appearance obtained as a result of the surgery as long as possible.
When it comes to non-surgical facelift, only facelift bands should not come to mind. Non-invasive facelift procedures such as botox, filling, laser, cellular therapy, which are also referred to as "non-invasive" methods that are applied to the patient without requiring too much intervention, are among the options. At this point, it is especially important to note that all these procedures must be performed by competent persons and by experts in places with hygiene requirements.
It is a fact that should be kept in mind that the procedures performed without these conditions cause serious problems such as infection and allergies. As it has been reflected in the public many times, the problems caused by such unconscious practices cause people to face irreparable consequences. And again, it should be kept in mind that permanent results should not be expected from applications such as botox, laser, cellular therapy. These applications have an activity of 6 months or 1 year. After this period, the activity gradually decreases and the process may need to be repeated.
Surgery is not necessarily required for a facelift. One of the preferred methods of today is a face lift band. Face lift bands, which can be easily accessed by everyone, even from internet shopping sites or cosmetic stores, are frequently applied by people who are not satisfied with their current state. However, it is useful to keep in mind that the applications made with face lift bands, which are preferred for their relatively affordable cost, are only a temporary solution, and the standards of these products widely available in the market are also controversial.
