Breast Augmentation can be done by inserting silicone implants or injecting fat into the breast(s) of the women who think their breasts are small or have had a small breast size following pregnancy or who have been treated for breast cancer. Breast augmentation, one of the most well-known surgeries in Turkey and the rest of the world, aims to give women the breasts they crave and desire. Breast augmentation allows women to achieve the natural appearance they want while also boosting their self-esteem. (1)
Breast augmentation, also commonly known as breast enlargement or a boob job, is a cosmetic surgery that involves adding breast implants or transferring fat from other parts of the body to increase breast size. It may also be used to change the shape of the breasts or to correct any asymmetry in the size or shape of the breasts. (2)
The size of a woman's breasts has a huge effect on her physical appearance. For a variety of reasons, breasts can be too small (limited volume loss due to pregnancy or weight loss, breast cancer, or significant release). In this situation, breast augmentation surgery could be a viable option for achieving size and shape that suits the individual's standards. Previously, this surgery was only for actors, celebrities, and stars. It is now a treatment option chosen by all women, regardless of their age or socioeconomic status. (3, 4)
Breasts are one of the most prominent features of a woman's body that contribute to her femininity. When the boobs are saggy, too small, or too big, it can affect a woman's self-confidence, mentality and psychology. (5, 6)
This is when cosmetic surgery treatments such as breast augmentation can help. Thousands of women have breast surgery in their home country or overseas each year. With that being said, breast augmentation surgery in Turkey is at the forefront of all cosmetic surgery choices, particularly when it comes to a boob job. (7, 8)
Breast augmentation treatment, in a nutshell, is commonly used for two reasons:
Breast augmentation may be done under either general or local anesthesia. This surgery, which is done in an operating room, takes around 1 to 1.5 hours on average. A person's own adipose tissue or silicone prostheses (breast implants) can be used in breast augmentation surgery.
This is dependent on the patient's preferences and availability. When a person's adipose tissue is used for breast augmentation, it is typically applied to breasts that have a small volume but a great shape. During the surgery; using special cannulas, fat tissue from the hip and abdominal region is absorbed.
After the absorbed fat tissue is cleaned and purified, it is injected into the breast through special cannulas. Thus, volume is given to the breast without using a foreign material.
In breast augmentation surgeries using silicone prostheses (breast implants), the aim is to give the patient's breasts shape and volume. Silicone breast prostheses may be inserted from the nipple, underarm, armpit, and belly button. The depth selection is made after determining where to position the silicone prostheses, and breast augmentation surgery is conducted.
Breast augmentation can be beneficial in the following situations:
Always speak to your plastic surgeon about your expectations so you can be rational and realistic about what breast augmentation can accomplish for you.
Breast implants are divided into two categories based on the materials used in their production. The outer shells of both kinds are silicone. Cohesive gel implants and fluid implants are the two types of breast implants. Breast implants that are cohesive gel are filled with silicone gel, while fluid implants are filled with saline. There is no illness, disease, or cancer associated with any of the breast implant types.
There are two types of breast implant shape: round and teardrop. The type of surgery that will be performed on the patient will also influence the shape of the implants that will be used.
Breast implants filled with sterile saltwater are known as saline implants. A saline implant will dissolve if the implant shell leaks and the saline will be absorbed and removed naturally by the body. Saline implants have a long history of being safe, have a soft texture, and have a natural feel. Since the saline solution is similar to the body fluids, if the implant ruptures, it can be safely consumed and excreted by the body. (9, 10)
Silicone-filled breast implants are filled with a smooth, elastic gel; they are pre-filled and can require a longer cut to be inserted. Silicone gel implants have a long history of safe use, are less likely to wrinkle than other implant forms, are available in circular or tear-drop / breast-shaped (anatomical) sizes, and have a very soft and pliable (supple) implant filler that allows for mobility and a natural feel. Some silicone gels have a textured surface, which may minimize the risk of issues such as hardening. (11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16)
The other method for breast augmentation is fat transfer. Liposuction is used to remove fat from other areas of the body and inject it into the patient's breasts in this method. The patient will go home without being hospitalized the same evening after the fat transfer, but if necessary, the patient can be hospitalized for one day. (17, 18)
Fat injections can’t be used to treat sagging or deformity in the breasts. Furthermore, the breasts would not be able to provide a very large size in this manner. As a result, fat transfer can’t be appropriate for all patients. There are certain requirements that must be met in order to perform breast augmentation by fat injection, such as:
Breast augmentation can be done using a variety of methods depending on the body and breast structure. Although silicone fillings are recommended for some women, fat injection is a safe alternative for others.
Studies into whether breast implants cause breast cancer or an autoimmune disease have been conducted by prestigious universities around the world for many years, and no connection between breast implants and these diseases has been discovered so far.
Breast implant brands are extremely significant. During your appointment with your doctor, you will be told about the type of prosthesis that will be used, and you should request that the prosthesis cards with the serial numbers of the prosthesis be given to you after surgery.

Breast augmentation, like any treatment, carries risks. There are some potential complications that may arise. You will be asked to sign consent documents to confirm that you understand the surgery, as well as any risks and complications that might occur. (19)
Although the majority of breast augmentation surgeries go smoothly, there are some risks and complications involved. (20)
Possible breast augmentation surgery risks include:
The following topics are often discussed during breast augmentation surgery consultations: surgical goals, medical history, including past mammograms and biopsies, as well as a family history of breast cancer, current substances used; such as medications, supplements, alcohol, narcotics, and tobacco, current health status; expected outcome, postoperative care, and potential complications.
The size and shape of the breasts, as well as the nipples and surrounding skin, are both measured and examined. Photographs are taken, and options for breast augmentation are explored before the surgeon suggests a treatment plan.
It is recommended that you use the consultation appointment to the fullest extent possible to make the most informed decision possible. Answering all of the surgeon's questions frankly and asking freely about something that needs clarification is critical to the breast augmentation's success.
General health status should be checked by the surgeon before breast augmentation surgery. After it is decided that the person is healthy enough for the surgery, the following steps should be taken into consideration:
Breast augmentation will not help if the breasts are seriously sagging. For sagging breasts to appear fuller and elevated, a breast lift can be combined with a breast augmentation.
Breast augmentation may be performed in a surgical center or as outpatient surgery at a hospital. You'll most likely return home the same day. The treatment rarely necessitates a stay in the hospital. Breast augmentation is often performed under local anesthesia, which means you're conscious but your breasts are numbed. Although, breast augmentation is also frequently performed under general anesthesia, which means you'll be unconscious during the surgery.
After surgery, you should expect to be sore and swollen for a few weeks. Bruising is also a possibility. Scars will disappear with time but will not vanish entirely.
Wearing a compression bandage or sports bra for extra support and positioning of the breast implants while you're recovering can be beneficial. Your surgeon can also recommend pain relievers.
Follow the surgeon's recommendations for resuming normal activities. You may be able to return to work in a few weeks if you don't have a physically demanding job. For at least two weeks, stop strenuous exercises or something that could increase your pulse or blood pressure. Know that your breasts will be vulnerable to physical contact or jarring movements while you're recovering.
If your surgeon used non-absorbable sutures or inserted drainage tubes near your breasts, you'll need to schedule a follow-up appointment to get them removed.
You may have an infection if you experience warmth and redness in your breasts, as well as a fever. In that case, as soon as possible, contact your surgeon. Also, if you experience shortness of breath or chest pain, call your surgeon.
Patients should also consider the following:
The following are among the most likely causes for considering breast augmentation:
There are a few steps to recovery from breast augmentation surgery. Breasts are swollen and stretched at first. Furthermore, there might be some discomfort. Effective healing occurs over the next six-week period. After three months, the majority of the swelling has subsided, the breasts have become softer, and they look more normal. Of course, the anatomy of the patient plays a big role during this process. In most cases, you must wait one week before returning to work and six weeks before exercising. (25, 26, 27)
Results of the surgery are long-lasting and you will begin to see the final results after six months. Breast augmentation surgery will result in a significant boost in self-confidence.
The aim of breast augmentation is to make the breast(s) look bigger, more toned, and normal. Your satisfaction with the results will be maximized, and the chance of implant removal or reconstruction surgery will be reduced if you explicitly express your desires to your plastic surgeon before undergoing breast augmentation surgery. (28, 29)
However, keep the following information about breast augmentation surgery in mind:
There are three types of sutures used in breast augmentation surgery. The type of sutures used depends on the preference of the patient and the surgeon, also the surgical technique used, and the most beneficial one for the patient is chosen. It is important to note that dissolvable sutures are less invasive and leave less scarring, which is the dream of every professional plastic surgeon. Sutures types include:
Regular Stitches (Sutures) need to be removed with an appointment made with the surgeon after the surgery, your surgeon will inform you about when to come back for removal.
Taking care of your incisions after breast augmentation is generally easy. Your wounds will have been stitched and dressed by your plastic surgeon, and as long as you follow their post-op treatment instructions, you should be able to go from incision to scar in the weeks following your breast augmentation surgery.
Depending on where the incision is, plastic surgeons use various techniques to close it after breast augmentation (and what their preference is). Some stitches (also known as sutures) may be used, and some plastic surgeons may use medical tape to cover incisions.
Your surgeon will determine whether to use dissolvable or removable stitches. The majority of stitches used in breast augmentation nowadays are dissolvable, so they don't need to be extracted. Removable forms will necessitate a return visit to the plastic surgeon (usually between 6-14 days after your surgery).
Your plastic surgeon may use medical tape to keep your wounds together if you have a nipple incision. These should be left on for at least two weeks. Stitches may be a pain at times, and they may try to work their way out of your body, necessitating a visit to your surgeon to get any stitches removed (even the dissolvable kind can sometimes do this).
Important Note: Whatever you do, don't try to remove any loose stitches yourself at home! You may end up causing more harm than good.
If you're wearing a dressing over your breast incisions, it's to:
Your cosmetic surgeon's technique will decide how your wound is dressed. Some plastic surgeons can give you waterproof dressings so you can shower right away, while others will ask you to stop getting water on your dressings, though you can always sponge bath before your plastic surgeon removes them at a follow-up appointment.
Avoid making the incision sites on your breasts wet. They must remain dry in order to heal and recover. Submerging the incisions in water is not recommended until they have completely healed, which will take about three weeks, so you'll have to wait until then to enjoy a soothing hot shower.
Before you leave the hospital, ask your plastic surgeon if you can take any extra dressings home. If your dressings get wet, use a hairdryer to dry the area before applying new dressings. You are free to alter them as you see appropriate.
Within a day or two of breast augmentation, the skin edges normally form a seal. Don't be surprised if seeing your wounds for the first time is a little frightening. Your scars may seem frightening now, but with proper care, they will fade into oblivion and look invisible.
Once the incision is healed, the plastic surgeon would probably recommend massaging the scar with a cream or lotion. By applying pressure to the wound, massaging it will help encourage collagen production, while scar salve will offer moisture and flexibility to the scar, allowing it to heal and recover more quickly.
Scars go through several stages as they recover. They'll go from swollen and elevated (when blood flow to the area improves to begin the healing process), to red and flatter (as new tissue develops), to flatter and fainter as new cells completely rebuild the site.
Keep in mind that your wounds will take up to (and occasionally more than) a year to completely heal and fade from the date of your breast surgery, so be patient about it! Fortunately, taking care of your wounds should be a simple part of your journey. When it comes to wound care, the plastic surgeon will be your best resource, so pay attention to what the surgeon says.
A scar is formed as a result of the body's normal healing process in response to a surgical incision. Scar tissue goes through stages of healing, and during this time, it can look red or slightly elevated. Topical products and scar massage can help to improve scars. Taking care of your scar will make it look better.
Patients with a history of hypertrophic or keloid scars, as well as those with darker skin pigmentation, are at a greater risk of unusual scarring. Furthermore, incisions in high-tension areas or over parts of the body that participate in repeated movement can result in scarring that is expanded or hideous.
In order to produce the best scar, the patient must actively participate. Once your incision has healed properly, you may need to treat your scar. This occurs approximately 4-6 weeks after surgery. A silicone-based product (silicone gel or silicone gel sheets), scar massage, and sun avoidance are all recommended for optimal scar management. The first year after surgery is when scar management is most successful.
In breast augmentation surgery, incisions may be made in four separate positions. They are as follows:
Breast augmentation surgery does not have a one-size-fits-all incision. It's only one of the choices you'll have to make with your plastic surgeon. The type of implant, implant size, anatomy of your body, your lifestyle, and your surgeon's preferences all influence the incision pattern.
Patients who are considering breast augmentation surgery should first consult with a professional surgeon. The correct measurements are taken during this process and determining the size and type of the breast prosthesis (implants) to use. Back and neck pain are not caused by breast prostheses when they are used in the proper sizes. Prostheses of an abnormally large scale, on the other hand, may cause such discomfort.
Breast augmentation surgery typically takes 1-3 hours. A skilled surgeon may reduce the time even further.
Implants are chemically inert materials. It's incredibly rare that you'll have an allergic reaction.
Implants may be implanted by incisions on the breast, under the nipple, and in the armpit. Even though implants made from the nipple rarely cause a decrease in nipple sensitivity, there is no risk with other approaches.
You will not feel any pain during the surgery because you will be under sedation. There might be some pain in the following days but this pain is relieved with strong painkillers on the first day and mild painkillers on the following days. All pain will disappear within the first week.
You should be able to return to work in 3-5 days, but this varies depending on the process and the patient.
As a result of their internet study, anyone who decides to get breast augmentation surgery believes that the prosthesis should be removed within ten years. However, as technology advanced, the efficiency of implants has improved. As a result, under normal situations, the prosthesis would not need to be replaced. Apart from that, even if there is no problem, the individual can request that the prosthesis be changed or removed.
If there isn't enough breast tissue, the prosthesis can be felt by touching it. However, since the prostheses are the same density as natural breast tissue, they feel realistic. The silicone in the implant does not deform when it is touched because it is very thick.
You may need to contact your surgeon for implant replacement if you experience leakage, deflation, rupture, hardening, palpability, a change in location, or a desire for a different look. In most cases, breast implants will last up to 20 years without having to be replaced.
There are three types of incisions used in breast augmentation surgery. There will be no scars if the filling is put under the nipple, but there will be an unnoticeable scar if it is placed under the armpit or under the breast, depending on the person's skin texture.
Breast augmentation should be done after the breasts have grown to their full size. In other words, after the age of 18, breast augmentation is appropriate.
Many countries around the world conduct breast augmentation surgery. The effectiveness of breast augmentation surgery is determined by two key factors. The first is the doctor's quality, and the second is the hospital's quality.
Sterilization of the operating room and the patient room is just as important as the doctor's experience. Many Turkish hospitals are JCI-accredited, and Turkish doctors go through intensive training.
Doctors who perform breast augmentation surgery in Turkey, like the doctors in other countries, buy breast implants with dollars. But since the Turkish lira is more worthless than the GBP, the cost of surgery is more appropriate compared to many countries. Breast augmentation surgery in Turkey is between 2,000 GBP and 3,000 GBP.
